The Burlington City & Lake Semester has been designed with input from current and former BHS students, a wide range of community partners, and teachers and administrators throughout the Burlington District. We are inspired by the goal of creating a program that belongs to this community and that draws from its many assets.

Here is a short list of guiding beliefs that have emerged from our design process and that form the foundation of the program:

⋅ We believe young people need and deserve to be taken seriously.

⋅ We believe learning doesn’t have to happen in the classroom.

⋅ We believe in the joy of learning.

⋅ We believe in the value of all voices.

⋅ We believe our futures are interconnected.

⋅ We believe that students can have a real impact in the world now.
